Winchendon Voters Head to Polls Tuesday for State Primary

Winchendon's polls open Tuesday for the Massachusetts State Primary, the culmination of an election cycle that has reshuffled the town's meeting calendar this week, with a Planning Board session postponed and a Council on Aging special meeting timed around Election Day.

TOWN HALL

The Planning Board's regular Tuesday meeting has been pushed back to Sept. 15 because of the State Election, according to the town's posted meeting calendar. The Council on Aging will hold a special meeting Tuesday to discuss naming its building, and the Parks and Recreation Committee also meets that day.

SCHOOLS

Winchendon's School Committee meets Thursday, Sept. 3. The same week, the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School's Workforce Subcommittee and Policy Subcommittee convene Wednesday, Sept. 2, ahead of the full Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School Committee meeting.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Parks and Recreation is opening a free four-week softball batting clinic for girls ages 8 to 12, starting Thursday, Sept. 3. Beals Memorial Library has a run of youth and teen programming on tap, including a Teen Dungeons & Dragons Club session Tuesday and a Teen Gender & Sexuality Alliance meeting Wednesday.

COMING UP

Beals Memorial Library holds a CFCE Preschool Playgroup Thursday, Sept. 3, and Storytime sessions Friday, Sept. 4, and Saturday, Sept. 5. The library's Lego Club meets Monday, Sept. 7, the same day the Board of Health is scheduled to meet.
