Winchendon seeks resident for regional vocational school board seat
WINCHENDON — The Town of Winchendon is seeking a resident to serve as its representative to the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School District, according to a notice posted this week on the town's official website.

Town officials issued a call for volunteers to fill the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School District representative seat, a position that gives Winchendon a voice on the regional vocational school's governing board. Residents interested in the appointment can find application details through the town's civic alerts page.
Town Hall's calendar also shows a busy stretch of municipal business this week. The Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School Municipal Rep Appointment Meeting and the Charter and Bylaw Review Committee are both scheduled for Wednesday, July 29. A special joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen and School Committee set for Thursday, July 30 has been canceled, though the Board of Selectmen will still hold a separate special meeting that same day.
Separately, the fire department's ongoing haz-mat investigation, first reported this week, continues to be handled by public safety officials.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Beals Memorial Library has a full slate of programming running through the end of the month. Its Summer Reading Club continues with sessions Wednesday, July 29 through Friday, July 31, alongside a Mystery & Thriller Lovers Book Club and an International Snack Taste Test, both on Wednesday. The library also has Storytime scheduled for Friday, July 31.
Parks & Recreation is hosting Wandering Wednesdays on July 29, and the Winchendon Community Family Center Education program has a preschool playgroup and Community Game Night planned for Thursday, July 30.
Town Hall is also selling a limited-edition 2026 Toy Town Christmas keepsake ornament featuring Clyde, available online and at Town Hall's Planning & Development Office, which organizers hope will become an annual tradition.

The Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School Municipal Rep Appointment Meeting and the Charter and Bylaw Review Committee both meet Wednesday, July 29. The Board of Selectmen holds a special meeting Thursday, July 30, after the previously scheduled joint meeting with the School Committee was canceled.
