Winchendon boards grapple with $1.4M budget gap for FY27. Board of Selectmen Chair Andrew Beauvais and Finance Committee Chair Thomas Kane Jr. presented two budget scenarios during the joint meeting. Town Manager William McKinney outlined a level-service approach with minimal new expenses except two firefighter positions.
Health insurance costs are rising 8.5 percent, $200,000 lower than originally projected. The boards discussed increasing revenue projections based on historical performance to reduce the projected gap by approximately $400,000.
