Board of Health approves septic system variance and nine food permits

Board of Health · Meeting of May 4, 2026

WINCHENDON — The Winchendon Board of Health approved a septic system variance and nine food permits at its May 4 meeting. The board unanimously approved a variance for 399 Maple Street that allows a septic system upgrade with reduced slope requirements, contingent on Conservation Commission review. Conservation Agent Matt Moreau had cleared the plans, and the proposal meets Title V requirements.

The board cleared eight food service permits with no violations noted and separately approved a ninth permit for Immaculate Heart of Mary with the fee waived, recorded as 3-0 with one abstention. The board also raised enforcement concerns about tobacco regulations, particularly regarding vaping products and disposal requirements, and scheduled further discussion for June.
