Board approves raw milk sales variance at Smith's Country Cheese

WINCHENDON — Board of Health approves raw milk variance for Smith's Country Cheese. Owner Allie Caitlin requested approval to sell raw milk from her farm following three passed state inspections and monthly unannounced inspections; the Board voted unanimously to approve the variance and directed Health Agent James Abare to submit a support letter to the State. In other business, the Board unanimously extended spring cleanup day hours from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. to 8 a.m.–2 p.m. on May 2, with resident Rick Lucier proposing solicitation of local business donations to support the event.
The Board approved six food service permits without reported violations, postponed selection of a Fire Station Building Committee representative pending the May town elections, and requested an animal control representative attend its May meeting to discuss rabies procedures.
